The project focuses on the intersection of cultural politics, theory of cultures, and the reception of the philosophical Middle Ages in the 18th-19th centuries. The controversial Arabic mediation of Greek philosophy during the Middle Ages and the theory of cultures – Jewish, Arabic, Neo-pagan, Byzantine Christian and Latin Christian – form the point of departure of the inquiry.
